Alububble is a high performance reflective insulation, also known as a radiant barrier. It’s a cost-effective, simple way to reduce cooling bills in summer buy reflective radiant heat that would normally enter your roof through your tiles or corrugated iron.
What does Alububble consist of?
This product consists of a layer of polyethylene low-density air cells which have been sealed together on both sides of the product with aluminium foil. One of the sides you get a white bubble foil finish which arguably is the better looking reflective insulation foil of all the radiant barriers available.
Does Alububble work in winter?
Alububble like the other reflective insulation product are mainly used to reduce cooling costs in summer. There isn’t a significant effect in winter, it’s more to reflect and block radiant heat from entering your roof. If you are looking for good insulation for winter, you should consider bulk insulation like think pink aerolite or isotherm insulation. Bulk insulation works both in summer and winter and has an R-value not just a reflective value.
This is a single-sided product that has been designed not to burn and will not present a fire hazard when installed in a home or commercial and industrial building. It has been tested in accordance and meets the requirement of SANS 428:2007.
The double-sided alububble will be slightly more expensive than the single-sided product. This radiant barrier is also designed to meet the requirements of the SANS 428:2007 and will not contribute to the spread of flame-like cellulose insulation products.
Is alububble a water vapour barrier?
Not only does alububble have thermal properties in summer, it also acts as a water and moisture barrier all year round. In fact it works the same way that plastic underlay in your home or building with works, accept it has many added benefits:
- Thermal insulation
- Water vapour barrier
- Moisture barrier
- Reduce cooling bills
- Lasts longer
- More appealing look
- Enhances light in factories
What can you expect to save by installing Alububble?
By reducing energy consumption with heating and cooling costs will differ. There are many factors to take into account when calculating the saving you will receive. Depending on whether you already have bulk fiberglass or polyester insulation installed, solar window tinting film to reduce the heat coming in through your windows and obviously your climatic region.
If you only have alububble installed in your roof, you will probably be looking at around 17 – 25% saving on your electricity bills every month. To increase the amount of power consumed, get a bulk insulation like aerolite or isotherm installed, along with solar window to have a completely energy-efficient home with maximum power-saving capabilities.
