What Is Alububble?
Alububble is a type of reflective insulation material that combines the benefits of aluminum foil and air bubble layers to provide effective thermal insulation. It consists of a core layer of air bubbles encapsulated between two layers of reflective aluminum foil. The aluminum foil acts as a radiant barrier, reflecting a significant portion of radiant heat away from the insulated area, while the air bubbles provide additional thermal resistance and cushioning.
This unique structure makes Alububble highly effective in reducing heat transfer, whether it is used in residential, commercial, or industrial applications. It is particularly beneficial in hot climates, where it can significantly reduce the amount of heat entering a building, thereby reducing the need for air conditioning and improving energy efficiency.
What Is Alububble Used For?
Alububble is primarily used for thermal insulation in various parts of buildings, including roofs, walls, and floors. Its primary function is to reflect radiant heat, making it particularly effective in hot climates. When installed under roof tiles or metal sheeting, it helps keep upper floors cooler by preventing heat from entering the building.
It is also used in wall insulation, either on exterior or interior walls, to reduce heat transfer and improve thermal comfort. Its versatility and ease of installation make it a popular choice for enhancing energy efficiency and comfort in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
Does Alububble Work In Winter?
Alububble like the other reflective insulation product are mainly used to reduce cooling costs in summer. There isn’t a significant effect in winter, it’s more to reflect and block radiant heat from entering your roof. If you are looking for good insulation for winter, you should consider bulk insulation like think pink aerolite or isotherm insulation. Bulk insulation works both in summer and winter and has an R-value not just a reflective value.
- ALUBUBBLE SINGLE-SIDED: This is a single-sided product that has been designed not to burn and will not present a fire hazard when installed in a home or commercial and industrial building. It has been tested in accordance and meets the requirement of SANS 428:2007.
- ALUBUBBLE DOUBLE-SIDED: The alububble double-sided product will be slightly more expensive than the single-sided product. This radiant barrier is also designed to meet the requirements of the SANS 428:2007 and will not contribute to the spread of flame-like cellulose insulation products.
Is Alububble A Water Vapour Barrier?
Alububble also serves as a moisture barrier, preventing condensation and water vapor from penetrating the insulation layer, which helps to protect the building structure from mold and moisture damage. Its lightweight and durable nature ensure that it can withstand handling and environmental stresses, making it a long-lasting insulation choice.
What Can You Expect To Save?
By reducing energy consumption with heating and cooling, costs will differ. There are many factors to take into account when calculating the saving you will receive. Depending on whether you already have bulk fiberglass or polyester insulation installed, solar window tinting film to reduce the heat coming in through your windows and obviously your climatic region. If you only have alububble installed in your roof, you will probably be looking at around 17% – 25% saving on your electricity bills every month.
Reasons To Choose Alububble:
