63mm Cavitybatt Information
Frequently Asked Questions
63mm Cavitybatt has a material R-value of R1.66m²·K/W. This describes the insulation itself; the overall wall performance depends on the complete construction.
One pack contains 30 batts measuring 1200mm × 600mm. Each batt covers 0.72m², giving 21.6m² of nominal coverage per pack before cutting waste.
Cavitybatt is designed for suitable drywall systems, timber frame buildings and steel frame structures. Check that the 63mm thickness matches the specified wall system.
The manufacturer lists Cavitybatt as non-combustible, tested to SANS 10177 Part 5, with a SANS 428 classification of A/A1/1. This does not establish a fire resistance duration for the complete wall.
Select the thickness specified for the wall and avoid unnecessary compression. Allow the batts to recover after opening the pack, then cut them to suit the cavity and services.
The 63mm product has an R-value of R1.66 and covers 21.6m² per pack. The 51mm product has an R-value of R1.34 and covers 28.8m²; the 102mm product has an R-value of R2.68 and covers 14.4m². Choose the thickness required by the wall design.
